Hallway - hdr

Had taken 3 handheld shots of this and decided to try it as HDR but more realistic less artistic.

Photomatix Pro 4.1 and Photoshop CS5 from 3 RAWs shot in 2.0 EV intervals.

NIKON D3000 1/25 second F/9.0 ISO 400 32 mm

These photos are of Life as I see it.
Always photograph and create images that pleases YOU.
We are 7 billion on this planet and I'm pretty sure someone out there will also like them.

Nice shot with fine framing. I like the lack of HDR overkill we so often see. I've downloaded a free trial of Photomatix to try & this treatment inspires me to give it a go. Thanks.

@Williams: Thanks Paul! HDR is used by many professionals to bring out the beauty of what they have seen. Some like the "grungier" style or overkill has you mentioned but others produce beautiful landscapes and architectural photo with it. Another HDR software you should try is Oloneo [LINK], that's what I used for the next couple of posts. Have fun experimenting with HDR!

There is still a bit more highlight detail to be recovered in this one Don, in the walls and in the area behind the window. Just played in Photoshop with this using shadow/highlight and curves. Perhaps more frames might have helped, five or seven frames tripod mounted at one stop intervals might be the way.
Of course this may have been one of those situations where a tripod was not possible and you are stuck with auto bracketing.

@Curly: Thanks Curly! A tripod was not possible and my Nikon D3000 doesn't have auto-bracketing. This was taken 1 shot, change the EV setting, take another shot, change the EV and take the last shot. Your tip is very appreciated as I learn more about HDR.

I like it when HDR improves a photo, but does not "look like HDR", like this shot. Some make it so extreme that it is distracting from the photo.

@B. Thomas: I'm experimenting with realistic and "grungier" style of HDR. I myself like the more realistic ones but sometimes "grungier" makes it more artistic. Thanks Barbara!
