Ice hut #8

Posted by
Don Levesque (Saint John, Canada) on 22 February 2012 in Sport & Recreation and Portfolio.

Ice fishing in New Brunswick

A ice hut are also called a bobhouse. The reason they're called this is because they bob in the water if they go through the ice.

The blue sign says "Nothing would be Finer than Smelling Fishey @ the 69er" .

The next two post will show the inside of this ice hut.

@L'Angevine: Ah! Ah!

Curly from South Shields, United Kingdom

Looks like this guy has a great business selling signs to the rest of them :-)

22 Feb 2012 9:18am

@Curly: I think this belongs to the mayor and those are the street signs on the porch ;-))

Laurette from Johannesburg - Fourways, South Africa

A very attractive little bob house and the colours are wonderful with use of great light.

22 Feb 2012 11:15am

@Laurette: Thanks Laurette!

Stephen from Canberra, Australia

Ha! Bob in the water - like a house boat!

22 Feb 2012 1:47pm

@Stephen: LOL! But they don't want it to go into the water ;-)

Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, Canada

These are definitely more upscale as they are also boats in some capacity! Nicely captured Don! ;-)

22 Feb 2012 2:00pm

@Eric Cousineau: Thank Eric! They will float, for awhile, but are not constructed to do it. ;-)

Williams from East LaHave, Nova Scotia, Canada

Wow you New Brunswick guys go all out! This is a serious village on ice.

22 Feb 2012 5:16pm

@Williams: For the next 2 posts, you'll see the inside of this ice hut.

Judy aka L@dybug from Brooksville, FL, United States

I was wondering if this 'guy' was absconding with the street signs, but I guess a mayor can move them around in the night to confuse his constituents, right? <grin>

22 Feb 2012 5:44pm

@Judy aka L@dybug: I think that each street has its own tax rate, that's why the "mayor" changes them around ;-)))

franz from Baden, Austria

the only thing that's missing here is a ... front garden !!!
stunning info about the name !!

22 Feb 2012 7:46pm

@franz: With some blooming winter flowers ;-)) Thanks franz!
