Cela doit être impressionnant et aussi bruyant je suppose !
L'année prochaine je vais aller au Canada... mais pas en hiver... cependant je pense que la nature doit être aussi très belle en mai/juin...

@Florence: Tu deviens habituer aux bruits. Les mois de mai et juin sont très beau au Canada. La nature est très diverse, tout dépends de la région du Canada que tu vas visiter.

@Stephen: Thanks Stephen! This is from the town I'm originally from, about 3.5 hours drive from where I live now. In the spring, during the ice melt, the water sometime comes 3/4 of the way up the side of the gorge.

@Eric Cousineau: Thanks Eric! I'm going to try to get a spring time (ice melt) shot to show the amount of water that goes through the gorge. Not much snow this year so there might not be much water either.

absolutely stunning view ! love the strong winter colours here!
a question - weren't people opposed to the construction of the dam so close to the falls? or did this happen at a time when the preservation of scenic sites was not high on people's agenda ?!? i suppose today this would not be so easy ...

@franz: Thanks franz! In the 1800's, the river was used to drive lumber to the various mills along the river. Logs would often jam at the bottom of the falls and dynamite was used to break up the log jam. In the early 1900's, the town needed electricity so they constructed a dam, it was built to divert water through a tunnel underneath the main part of town and to a hydro-electric generating plant at the other side of town.
